WHAT IS THE CONTEST?
about issues important to you
people to vote
exciting prizes and see your ideas implemented!
Local government is one of the areas where citizens can have the most influence to affect the change they want to see, but participation in local elections is nearly always low. This is a hugely important part of our democracy, so we want to make Utah's young voices heard in local government. #IfIRanTheCity is a video contest for 16-29-year-old Utah residents to share your ideas about what YOU would change in your cities, and to make civic participation fun - your video can be whatever you want it to be!
To enter the contest, submit a video about your ideas to run YOUR city by October 22, 2021.
Winning participants will get prizes including cash and the chance to shadow your Mayor or City Councilor!
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Create a 60-90 second video in any format. It must include:
1. First line as "Hi I'm [your name] from [your city name]."
2. Some mention/demonstration of your top 3 issues if you ran the city.
(Don't just name them- talk about what it's like now and what you would do.)
3. Last line as "Learn more and register to vote at voterise.org/ifiranthecity."
These 3 elements must be in your video to be a successful submission.
Post your video to Instagram, TikTok, Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #IfIRanTheCity by 11:59pm on Friday, October 22, 2021.
Remember to make your submission PUBLIC and to use the hashtag!

That's it! Have fun with your videos and make them as creative as you want - break out dance moves, replace the lyrics of a favorite song, or animate your ideas. Any style of video is acceptable. As long as you meet the above 3 criteria, your submission is eligible.
